Congrats to Blake Johnston on landing this hog on the Wisconsin River near Stevens Point. Fish was caught trolling a crankbait, fish was released. My friend witnessed the catch and photographed it for him.

That is a great fish. Do you have the pic of the fish thrashing and the expression on his face? That's an even better pic.

Great Fish!

Go to www.muskyhunter.com to see more pics of this fish. It can be found in the photo album and there is a pretty good pic of the fish flailing out of his hands.

Here are the other two pics that my friend e-mailed me. My friend thought the fish was about 48X24 but I think it is longer than that. He said Blake was too excited to get actual measurments and tried getting it back in the water as soon as possible.

Nice fish but not a very good example of handling and releasing a fish!

Take it easy on the guy, he wasn't trying to let the fish jump his grasp. I have dropped a few during my career, and I am supposed to KNOW how to hang on to a fish. The fish was released, and wasn't intentionally mishandled, it was a strong fish.

Nice river fish!!!  What day was it?  Just wondering, as we had two days where the big fish wewre active, and it would be neat to see if it was the same time period.

Amazing Flying Muskie! It reminds us how tough it can be to handle these awesome fish. It seems the more careful I am, the more trouble I have and I have had my share or mixups I am said to admit. I am always looking for ways to improve my skills at every level (especially since I am a new guy to this great pastime). Thanks for sharing the great pics. I can't wait to hook into my first true hog.

Sunday ehh??  Good for us too!!  I know it can be tough when trying to hold a big one vertical, and I've noticed the fish do not like it either.  supporting the weight of the fish towards the middle(even when doing a somewhat vertical pose) has kept them much more calm.  9 out of ten fish have flopped on me when holding them vertical.  Happens to everyone a time or two.

Apparently Blake has caught some other dandies on that same stretch.

Which stretch would that be again?
