| Hey guys,
I really want to try this but, I'm unsure how to proceed, without them twisting my line to hell. How should I be rigging them? Leaders, I know. But how long and how far out from the boat. How can I be relatively sure that they're not doing what one should expect from them?
I really like casting the Blue Fox musky bucks and have done well with them while doing so, as an example. But, I also have some of the large Mepps and a coupla' Harassers I'm wondering about.
Tigers...where I fish...reservoirs and rather small rivers in PA.
10HP x leaking 16' Jonboat w/ transome 35lb.trolling.
Spinning reels Shimano Symetre 4000 and Spirex 4000
Down East Standard rod holders.

Am thanking some sort of entity...hard to define just what or whom exactly... but anyway, after each catch and follow.
No electronics. (Am relying on blind faith sofar...cause I'm new to alot of this plus, I'm not sure of what I'm actuallly looking at with these and budget is sorta' limited).

Location: oswego, il | Grubby, first off, I would get a baitcasting outfit. I have found spinners to be unfreindly with spinning gear even with a ball bearing swivel. The only releif I have found with a spinning reel is to goto fireline which can handle twists much better. With that said, the blue fox and mepps spinners troll well and stay just under the surface at 3mph and 40ft of line out. You could add a rubber core sinker for more depth if you need. You can also try spinnerbaits as well and you can get them with trebles for better hook ups or add one yourself. Spinnerbaits won't twist line. Good luck.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I second what ToddM said, and would add that a spinnerbait about 20' behind he boat in the propwash is a good thing some days. The bucktails will spin some, just be sure to have a really good swivel on the leader, and double them up with a Sampo Ball Bearing swivelsnap combo as the line hook-up to the leader if you still experience some twisting. | |
