I live in the Fox Cities and drive about 2.5-3 hours to get to some of the lakes I like to fish. With family I often have only one day to get up there fish and be home in time to put my daughter to bed. That being said I often drive this trip fish 10 hours and drive home. 6hrs driving for 10 hrs fishing. So how far would you drive for 10 hours fishing?

Seems my cutoff distance is somewhere around 3 hours. I have a favorite Lake X that is 2 hours and 15 minutes away, which I do day trips only to. If time allows for an overnite I drive about 3 1/2 hours north to a different lake.

A general rule of thumb for my fishing partners and I is that the time spent fishing should be longer than the time spent driving, ideally.

I drive almost 3.5 hours one way. Today, got on the water at 6:30am and got off the water at 9pm. 7hrs of driving. All that for two musky and a bass.

My mate Martin and I are coming over to fish LOTW later in the week. We live in London, England. Now what's the prize!

I will drive 6 hours round trip to fish a new, hot lake or river anytime. Of course, I drive for a living, so 6 hours round trip to me is a little jaunt, not a big trip.

Well, If I drive from Fiblyville up to were my folks live in Fondy and fish some of the local sewers in that area it's about 2 1/2 hours each way.

Now if I go back home to fish, that's a 6 1/2 hour haul to Minneapolis one way. If I go to Mn. I usually stay at least 2-3 days a trip.

After fishing Oneida County for the first time last weekend I think I'll be making the 6 hour drive each way at least one maybe two weekends a month. MAN! since moving to Illinois 6 months ago I've put almost 10K miles on my truck!!!! Almost all of those are musky miles.....I must be crazy???

So far it's been 4-4 1/2 hour round trip for a day, and 6 hours one way for a long weekend.  Think that it is going to continue to grow longer and longer with each year though.  This is a terrible addiction!!!  But damn it's fun!!

I've always thought, for anything worth doing, its equal time in the car, for time, where you dream about at work. Don't sacrifice time with the kids, but, beat yourself dead tired, for your passions, when you have a few hours.

Some of us are spoilled, I get to drive 20 to 50 minutes to some of the best muskie waters around.
