I would get wolverine split rings in size 5 and 6 (225lbs and 350lbs respectively). The majority of my baits have size 6 on them. That should take care of most of your baits. I would also get some bucher spilt rings to use on those lures with very small eye hooks wher the wolverine split rings wont fit.

It all depends on the size of hooks! Size 6 will work for 2/0 thru 7/0 hooks but you'll need larger rings if your hooks are bigger. The Bucher rings a good, but the Wolverine ones that are on some of my baits have rusted, and a few of them have been sprung open. Maybe the new Wolverines are better. The ones that I have were made a few years back.

Try to use as big as you can that allows movement. Thats what I like to do anyway.I use everything from 5's to 9's.

I would highly recommend the wolverine split rings in the sizes mentioned above. The lures that I manufacturer use these split rings and have never had any problems.

Another method of using spilt rings is to double ring your lures. Find 2 rings in which 1 fits inside of the other. There isn't a muskie spawned yet that will pull 2 rings apart. It is a bit of a hassle to get 2 rings on 1 hook and lure eye at the same time, so get yourself a pair of quality splitring pliers. Avoid those $3.00 cheapys. Spend the $15. to $20. to get good ones. This is also a great way to reuse some of the cheaper split rings that come with the lures. Even though I wouldn't trust a big fish to a single cheap ring, there is no way that she'll pull apart even cheap doubled rings
