Location: MN | Fishing the other day and left my spot (shallow pt area). I was in 60 ft of water and saw a fish surfacing and attacking/jumping @ bait fish. I threw jakes and top waters. Nothing......
Is it common to see these fish where I saw them? It felt awkward fishing in the middle of the lake throwing a top water in 60ft of water? Only reason I saw them was that I was crusing to another spot! |

Location: Racine, Wi | It is more common than you think. Todd hit it right on the head. If the food is there, so will the muskies. Especially when the boats start thrashing the shallows trying to impress the fishermen.

Location: Lafayette, IN | Just in my limited time fishing muskies Indiana style, it's common to see them over deep water. One lake in particular can produce fish over 100' water. Baitfish, baitfish, baitfish. |

| Tahoe,
I caught my largest fish in about 40 feet of water about a foot below the surface on a bobbie bait. You never know where they will be.

| I got a tip for my home lake in Wisconsin, it's a gin-clear cisco lake.
The guy said he casts crankbaits and jerk baits that only go down 4-6 feet, and tries to stay above the schools of ciscoes.
Since it isn't that big of a lake, maybe 200 acres, the big basin is not so huge, so if he doesn't locate any ciscoes on the sonar he just trolls around to see if he gets any action on suspenders.
I am determines to pop that lake for a muskie this season...

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Don't be surprised if muskies are in (over) 40, 60, 100, or 200 ft of water for that matter. As previously stated, the baitfish will dictate where the muskies will be.
I never feel out of place fishing for muskies in the middle of nowhere. In fact, it's kind of nice not having to worry about boat control, etc. Think of where guys fish for marlin or sailfish.....over 1500-2500 ft of water trolling topwater streamers.
400+ Wisconsin suspended musky releases and counting.....
