Subject: need some advice on first-time trip for muskie


My friend and I just got back from a trip to mn for large-smallmouth great trip while we were there we discussed our next trip. we decided to try for muskie at lake shelbyville in illinois it is not far from our homes we could sure use some ideas or help thanks in advance,

Twitch minnow baits in the timber, baits like Slammers and Jakes. Pound the timber, and I mean pound it.. If it looks like it will hold a muskie, hit it again and again..

If you pitch it, they will come.

Shelbyville is not a weed or rock bite like on most lakes. Its made up of deep coves with tall standing dead timber. Fish the coves closest to the dam on the lake for best results.[;)]

Thanks Jason for the reply My buddy and I are getting up in years a little so we don't know if we can keep up the constant work but we have been friends for 50 years enjoy each others company and the friendly competition.
