For most of us up north, the boats are in storage and we're off to hunting camp, then we wait for good ice. As we come to the close, I can't help but think that this has been the worst season I've ever had. Between bad weather and a back injury I wasn't able to get out on the water for nearly two months. When I could chase muskies, it seemed they just weren't there. Even my fall trip to Vermilion was a washout, with only a mid-thirty in the net, which was the only musky caught that week between everyone staying at Spring Bay.

Just wondering, how was your season?

Fr. K

BTW, all the disappointment has only strengthened my resolve to fish harder, better, and more often next year!

My season isn't over yet. With any luck I'll be able to fish until season closes Dec.1 in MN. This season has been pretty good so far, looking for another giant to cap it all off.

Worst year in recent memory, but we still have a little over a month.

Only fair, a few good days and many completely dead days.

Padre, hope your back is 100%. Working on my second worse year ever but it is from not getting out. Quite a few cancelldx trips due to windy weather.

Worst year ever due to not getting out... Work and family took their toll. I did land an 21 inch daughter in October.

Not over yet for me. Still hoping to get out a few more times. Overall it has been slow, but I did catch two fish that were right up there with my best.

I had a great year. But after the rolling disaster that was last year it's kind of a wash.

Not a great year, but I did catch more off the dock than ever before and there were more nice sized northerns than I've seen in the past six years.

Thanks much. It wasn't great to begin with (arthritis), but I'm back to normal.

My worst year. Chronic back problems kept me from making very many casts. I appreciated the time I was able to spend in the boat. Maybe next year will be better.

Got one nice pure breed Musky, only a few tigers and a few big Northerns. Not near as good as last year.
Last year I got about 12 decent to big Musky's which for me is pretty darn good.

Personal woes aside, just musky fishing, this year ranks the worst of the last ten without a doubt. It'll be a stinker to put in the books!

Entered 65 over 30" last year on muskies inc.

Entered 23 over 30" this year on muskies inc.

Not for lack of effort. A lot of outings that took home the donut. Frustrating year.

Pics on a bumpboard or it didn't happen! Congrats! Best thing you'll ever land, except hopefully for landing her mother.

Worst year for me, out of 4 years. Granted, I am limited to summer trips, and an occasional trip to Kinkaid. The weather and fish didn't cooperate up on Vermilion in July and August, but I did have some chances. I can't get a break on the Kinkaid fish either. Hopefully Tony Grant and crew can help me turn this year around over Thanksgiving.

My season isn't officially over yet but it doesn't look like the weather is going cooperate for me plus LSC is getting dirty in many areas so I guess it's safe to say my season is over.

My season is far better than last years crappy season though I did lose 3 fish over 50, one of which looked to be pushing 55. Biggest I got this year was a 48 1/2" & a ton of small ones. This is the 2nd year in a row that I didn't catch a musky over 40" on LSC.  Did manage to net my first musky that I hooked in the 8 & also got a couple of tigers.

I had a lull from the end of June through late July, but after that it was on. Some really nice fish and a few kickers here and there. I cannot conplain. Then it slowed down around mid Oct. I've been in the tree now for a while. Hoping to get back out a couple times.

Decent year by my standards, put some fish in the boat, made some memories, drank some beer, and no major injuries. Looking to get out a couple more times yet.

I didn't get out as much due to a new house but it was the toughest year I've had. Had a few good days where we put multiple fish in the boat but lots of very slow days. My biggest was a 46.5 and I never even saw a big fish all year and I fish a fair amount on big fish water. A lot of the guys I stay in touch with had similar experiences.

Fish were moving this weekend...despite not putting any in the net, I had six decent fish follow yesterday. Two of them were hot but just didn't eat. Those two just happened to be the biggest two fish I saw this weekend, both pushing fifty inches...

Half as many fish as last year, but still stuck a couple nice ones. I didn't get out much the second half of the season due to work and other commitments.

Been pretty good all year in Western MN. Nice mix of fish throughout the season and a few pigs this fall. Hoping this storm moves SE and we get spared this weekend. Lakes should be open until the end, so there's still big fish to be caught.

Maybe one or two trips left for me. 2nd best season of my career and best for size. 16 fish, with 4 over 50 including 2 54s.

Not bad for a guy who just fishes one evening or so each week, doesn't fish for 6 weeks from late June through July, and can't catch a fish in September to save his life.

I think I personally did better than last year, but on the whole there were fewer muskies put in my boat. My biggest problem was my local go-to lake just wasn't co-operating with me this year. Caught one fish there and didn't see another one in several outings. Vermilion was rather cruel to me as well, with two 3 day trips I had one fish hit my bait on each trip but neither made it to the net.

I did finally get my first topwater fish, first sucker fish, and my first over 50" which were all goals of mine. Really the only thing I didn't hit on was numbers of fish. I also cut way back on bait buying which is an impressive feat in itself!

Pretty good year for me! Caught more on bucktails this year than I ever have, with a few really epic boatside strikes! 41 fish in the boat so far, with 3 over 50", and a couple weeks to go yet:)

Pretty good year so far. I only caught one musky trolling this year, but I caught 26 casting.
Now I'm hoping that this winter is fishable and not too nasty.
