Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Living in the land of very few tackle shops, it's sometimes hard to pick the right size for things like snaps, split rings, swivels, etc over the internet. SO, minor question of the day: which size wolverine split rings do I need for bait hook hangers?
Gracias! |

| It depends on what bait you are putting them on.... Care to elaborate..... |

Location: MN | Size 7 is pretty standard on most big baits, your smaller lures take size 5 or 6 at times. |

| yes it depens ! i have baits that won't work with these because of the size and shape of the wire loop ,too wide or thick so the triples hang-up in the loop . size 5 and 6 gets the most use for me on bait with big enough loops. |

Great point on the eyelet size... for that reason don't use the wide triple wrapped split rings often. They are Very strong but Like how my hooks hang with traditional split rings. I haven't had one break, bent out of shape yes I think from net tangles mostly. |

Location: SE, WI. | Slamr, like some mentioned, bait needs a large loop hook hanger, kind of like the 10" Jakes have for wolverine type rings. Reason being, fish gain leverage with a smaller loop, twist and turn and can easily rip the hook free.
I tend to shy away from the wolverine rings. IMO, rather use just a heavy duty regular split ring. JD |

Location: davis,IL | I've used the Joe Bucher "super" split rings for years on my own baits and prefer them over the Wolverine "triples". I've read that the Bucher rings are made by Wolverine also though. I use sizes 5, 6, & 7, based on the hook/bait presentation I'm rigging. They have been for the most part bulletproof. |

| Also you can't beat Owner's split ring. They come in all the right sizes. The quality is unsurpassed like with their hooks.

Location: Land of the Musky | I use 5, 6 and 7 depending on the baits. Great rings. I test my TI rings against them all the time for strength. They are tempered Stainless rings. Owner rings are good too. Probably made in the same factory. Bucher rings are good but your just paying 20% more for an actual Worth ring in Bucher packaging... |

Location: Detroit River | I'm not a fan of the Wolverine split rings. They are too wide & won't fit on most of my lures & the hooks rotate less with them. I only use them on the buck tails that I make & once I run out of them I won't be buying anymore. Going to stick with the Worth split rings. |

| No need for Wolverines. Not sure why everyone thinks there is. I've used ROSCO 80 lb and 100 lb rings for fighting 40lb stripers in the surf and they don't come open. They're all I use for muskies as well. I tried the triple rings and they do cause issues frequently when the hook hangers are not large enough. |
