| I am going to buy a longer bucktail rod. I have 2 st croix premiers and 1 avid 7',3/4- 3oz rods. the legend tournament rods dont seem as stiff as the premiers. Any suggestions to which st croix to buy. Thanks, Mag |

Location: Illinois | I have the 8-6 long ranger and love it...caught my 57 on vermilion with it, had no issues at all. Was casting 9" Suick Curley Sue when I caught it. It handles buck tails fine as well. |

Location: Twin Cities, MN | I have both, and I think it comes down to length preference. I use them both for throwing bucktails ( ghosttails ) and topwaters, but I tend to throw the bucktails on the Long Ranger, and the topwater on the Top n tail even they are both the same rod.
I also have the downsizer which my girls like and I do to for some presentations.

| Now its not mentioned, but i find the sling blade a lot more comfortable for throwing blades and spinnerbaits, i find both the rods you mentioned way to soft.
What size of bucktails do you mainly use?

Location: Duluth, MN | Agree with Zinox....The Long Ranger is too soft for anything but smaller bucktails. You'll wear yourself out. Sling Blade is a much better choice. But that's just another opinion...everyone has a couple:} |

| Step up to the big nasty.... 9' will give you better control in the 8s and is more versatile. |

Location: Contrarian Island | big nasty is a great rod for burning w a tranx.. sling blade is a killer night / slow rolling rod with a winch type reel.... I use a top n tail for gliders/WTD baits
and it is nice... |

2X these applications for those rods. Have the same. I ended up using my Sling Blade 75% of the time because it was so comfortable and effective for so many baits. |
