Location: MN | I've been around the smaller ones under 60 and everyone I have talked to really enjoys the motor. I think were at a place now that pretty much all the motors coming out are pretty rock solid. |

Location: MN | I had a 2006 Etec 60hp tiller which I bought used with 112 hours and ran it till ~400hrs. The first couple years (less than 200hrs) it needed a new starter, new powerhead, new oil reservoir, and new BRP relay; my boat was in the shop too much. After this first round of gremlins were resolved I didn't have issues with the engine. Evinrude was good to deal with. The technology is excellent, lots of power, easy on gas, and quiet. I spent many years being negative on the engine/brand but would consider buying a newer one today, sure hope that 10 years later they worked out the bugs. If you buy used absolutely make sure the 3 year or 300 hour (whichever comes first) service work has been done.

Get a history report, either print out or on a flash drive and check operating temp and any codes that have tripped before you pull the trigger. Also tons of great info at etecownersgroup.com, I got mine used and rigged it myself with help from that site. Awesome motor, crazy power and great on gas and oil! Winterization is a breeze too. |

Location: Madison, WI | If it's an 07 and has not had any issues, I wouldn't hesitate to buy. Any problems with it should have appeared in the last 9 years.if it's running strong I wouldn't worry! |

| I've owned a 40 and a 115 and both were fantastic motors. Had one in my last sled too and THAT was an awesome motor! When I buy my next snowmobile it will absolutely have an Etec in it. |

| My only experience is with a 250. The motor is bullet proof, but adding a $45/gallon of XD100 oil every tank of gas gets expensive. My next boat will have a 4 stroke. |

Location: Blaine, MN | MY 08 225 has never let me down... just over 500 hrs. on it without issue... you can save up to 20% on oil if you keep your emptied gallon jugs and have a dealer/marina fill them up out of their "bulk" supply. |
