Its way too early to talk expos but I need to start planning my 2017 Vacation Schedule. Looking for feedback from folks who have driven from MLPS to Chicago for the Expo. Was it worth the hassle? I'm spoiled that the MN show is about 15 minutes from my house and I attended Wausau last year and that's only a 3 hour drive..

Never been to that expo. I would say stay in MN go to that one hit the Thorn Bros spring sale and save your vacation for fishing.

The venue for the last 2 years left a lot to be desired. They are moving the show to a real convention center. Hopefully with room to move around and better seminar halls it will be much better.

IMO, probably a little better than the MN show but not worth the drive. They do have a lot of vendors that don't do the MN show though. The best thing about it is that is the first show of the year and when you really start wishing you were out fishing. Buying lots of baits and talking muskies probably makes it worse but it's a good time. First crack at all the customs and new stuff too....

I live outside Chicago and have been to the show many times--at 2 different locations---But there is Nothing at this show that you couldn't get at any large show--or certainly on line-----I would never think of driving hours to attend this Expo.......unless you were going to extend your stay to see family friends or even stay in Chicago for a few days---Otherwise-----I would say your Show--25 minutes away----has everything this 1 does...

It's cool because it's the first show and the first chance to see new stuff from all manufacturers but the lure swap on Saturday night makes it worth the four hour drive for me.

Rich is running a great show in Wausau! I hope to attend again this year, he has a nice mix of vendors and speakers that you just wouldn't see at the other shows.

We drive from MPLs to Chicago every year since 99 haven't missed a year,,we fill up one or two vehicles. Minnesota is usually a bigger show more booths. Chicago is the first show and gets the season and blood going early,,"it's fun" also the swap meet on Saturday nite is huge, stay at the show hotel with all the guys and vendors and its fun socializing in lobby and bar at night not has wild has it was with people ending up thrown in the pool and cops chasing drunk musky guys in parking lot, pros in rooms and not the fishing kind of "pros" but you can talk musky till 2am every nite if you want.
Get a crack at the hot lures first and all the other mounting off season buzz always a nice lineup of speakers and famous Chicago food at night,,we go fri-sun and usually throw in a side trip Chicago museum,Rush street etc.,,

FYI the Minn show is in March this year if that helps make the wait a little more bearable

The Chicago show is the only chance for many people to get some of the highly sought after baits. DK's, truglide, for example. If that interests you at all.
