I am currently trying to put together a dedicated jerkbait/topwater rod and reel combo. I already have selected my rod, Tackle Industries 7'6 XH. Can I get away with using the Abu Garica Revo Toro S as the reel? Or should I look at the beast, rocket or winch? Thanks

I've used my s for everything. I have one on my jerkbait rod and my everything rod. Works awesome. And since jerkbait are low resistance, if you need to pickup line fast just reel faster. Just my 2 cents. Save your money and buy more baits

I actually like my old Calcutta 400 for wtd. I can get a good cadence with it. One snap for every reel turn. I have tried with higher speed reels but they are to fast for me to get the rhythm I like going.

I agree, plus sometimes having a little slack in the line gives the gliding lures a little different action.

are you guys talking the abu ambassedor S reel? I just ordered one of them for a second reel. I do use the Revo Winch on my smaller 7' rod for top water. Only thing I dont like about the winch I cant get the casting distance I can from the big game reels because of lack of spool capacity but still works well..
