Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hi Everyone,
I usually head north for my muskie fishing ventures to lakes that have very little, if any eurasian milfoil in them. Due to some life changes, I will not get north anywhere near as much, and have enjoyed fishing some of the Twin City Metro lakes... But the eurasian milfoil is everywhere.. which I am very unfamiliar fishing around. So far I have found fishing it is a totally different animal...
Given that these lakes are massively infested with milfoil, I am curious as to what strategies people have employed to fish in and around the milfoil. I believe fish have to relate to the stuff somehow, but obviously getting a bait through the thick mats is marginal at best, which limits presentation...
Figuring that fishing over the top (when possible) and along the edges are key to these areas, does anyone have any specific methods they are using?
Thanks |

Location: SE, WI. | Fished lots of milfoil for years down here in southern WI. For me, I normally shy away from the matts of milfoil. look for areas with deep pockets, then go ahead and use your normal go to baits, topwater, jerks, plastic dawgs/ dussas, buck tails , and probably one of your better baits in milfoil, your spinnerbaits. With temps cooling, try to work the deeper milfoil with jig/creature presentations. Creatures are a great presentation with the several cold fronts we will face in the coming weeks/ months. JD OH, and don't forget the inside edges also! |

| ERC jig a beast 1.5 oz swimbait with Lunker city salt shaker. Deadly milfoil combo. Kill them on the Milfoil areas on the Kawarthas here in Ontario with that bait. |

| I like big rubber, cranks and bucktails on the deep outer weed edge. |

Location: Seymour, WI | I'm not good at it myself, but I have seen other guys throw rubber at the base of the milfoil walls on the deep edge. I know several people who do this with big success. |
