| I fish a few rust/ tea/coffee colored lakes in Norather WI.
I've always heard copper/bronze colored bucktail blades, but what color do you like the hair/tinsel to be? I have had some follows with copper blades and black tails. Looking for more color options I guess.
Also, what do you guys like for say bulldawgs ,cranks, or suicks?
Thanks in advance

Location: Wisconsin | Black colored lures are always a good choice. The reason is they are easy for the fish to track against the background (sky). The old rule of thumb used to be dark skies, dark colored lures; bright skies, bright colored lures.
Regarding the blades of the bucktail, the flash they can create can help but is is more likely the vibration of the lure that gets the muskie's attention.
To get exactly top the point: three choices for you (let your gut tell you which ones to use). Go with all black, black and orange, or fire tiger.

Location: Contrarian Island | any color works but when I fished darker water up north I tend to throw, gold blades, orange blades, or chartreuse blades...
I liked brighter colored dawgs as well... hard to beat an orange tail, white belly walleye dawg in stained water... fish don't care too much tho imo....it's more what we have confidence in... |

Location: Illinois | I agree with the above. Black w/brass-gold blades and I've always liked black w/red,orange,or white in the tail. Fire tiger is my favorite for hard lures or bulldawgs. Also a gold glitter/walleye pattern has produced fish for me in the past. |

Location: MN | I'm sure I'll get ripped but I think copper is great but for dark water but I think chartreuse shows up better then other painted blades. It's really my go too color now. im sure others will say orange and green. |

Location: Tomahawk, WI | I fish a few dark water lakes in Northern WI. Time after time, my best luck is always on a Purple bucktail with silver blades. I dont know what it is, but this color produces fish in all sky & wind conditions. I've got several different style lures in that color pattern and they are all chewed up. |

Location: Wisconsin | Char/Blk for me without a doubt. But, I believe, as BNelson stated, it has alot to do with confidence. We all tend to throw whatever color we are confident in the most, thus we are more likely to see action on that bait/color. |
