| i have various musky rods that have either just the tip broke off or broke 2 to 7 inches down from the tip. none of them are medium action. most are 9 foot extra heavy action rods. No, i dont have the old tips. all of them are extra heavy, not small diameter tips.
i was going to order some various sized tips and add them so i can still use the rods.
i like the all metal tips (see link below).
I guess i could measure the width of broken rod tips down the millimeter, but wanted to ask you guys if you knew the range of sizes i should consider? i know this is a bad and dumb question, but i'm at work..
like 4 to 6 millimeter for size range? bigger?
oh yea, if i do measure them to place, i assume i measure the diameter not the radius, right?

thanks

| Just a ballpark guess, you will need something with a barrel size of 10 mm to 12 mm, possibly larger depending on the size of the blank. The ring size is more of a preference, but you likely won't be able to get a really small ring size in a large barreled tip. |

Hoop or ring size is in MM. |

Location: Already Gone | I remember that I just bought a Fuji guide replacement kit awhile back that had 3 different tip sizes in it with the glue. When I test fit the correct tip, I then purchase another exact one for replacement use. They should fit snug before gluing....and in some cases if you broke the rod tip back a bit, you may have to test fit a couple different tips before selecting your final choice. Sandpaper a bit if needed.
I figured it's a small investment for the kit and it saves time when finding the right tip.
Hope this helps, especially since you have several to fix. |

Easiest way is with a caliper or boley gauge. they aren't too expensive at hardware store. If you have something in between the available sizes you'll probably have to do the size slightly larger.
