Planning a trip for my 16th birthday and wanted your input on where to go. So far I am thinking st clair, green Bay, vermillion, or mille lacs. I have been to St clair mid summer and had a lot of success trolling picking up my pb 55in but have not been to the other options I listed. I am up to troll or cast but am looking for size over numbers. My birthday is november 1st but thinking of taking the trip later in the seson when the big girls are putting the feedbag on. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Those MN lakes can either make you a hero or make you never want to fish again, which is more likely! If I could go anywhere in November, it would be St. Clair. I'll most likely never make it that far east though. (I live near Vermilion)

if he's truly after a big fish and not numbers, and he lives in WI, why not fish Green Bay? there are at least 10 muskies caught every year in green bay BIGGER than the biggest musky that will be caught out of St Clair, on any given year.
closer to home. fish are bigger.

16 years old? Hit Vilas County. Have some fun and action. Stick about a dozen fish, they will probably be 40 inches or less. Learn how to fight a fish and release a fish, then head to Vermillion, LSC or GB. And, there are big fish in Vilas, so maybe you contact a hog along the way.

I can catch numbers and size like that on pewaukee and just stay at home but that's not what I'm after. I have put a lot of musky in the boat in the last few years and would consider myself more educated on CPR and the proper release of a fish than some others much older than me! I have fished Vilas County a half dozen times with decent luck but want to go to a lake with more potential of a bigger fish.

Go before your birthday and you won't have to pay for a license

I've got a 20ft pro v which I have taken on big water multiple times without any problems.. I'm not concerned about paying for a 7 day licence and If I end up going to St clair and fish the canadian side I already have a Canadian licence...

Not saying that there are no big fish in Vilas. There are and I've seen them but I want to get out on big water and Chuck some big baits for some big girls on a lake with more potential... not saying Vilas County is not a trophy destination but from what I have heard and seen there are better options.

LSC in November. I have been twice and growing up fishing Lake Michigan I should have known better. Go for a week, you could be confined to the rivers for several days. (Yes, with the 20ft Pro V).

It'd be worth it to wait it out until then and see what the weather is doing. Big waters can be nasty in November.

You have options on St clair with any wind direction. Although Im sure you want to fish the big part of the lake down south, but there are backup plans if it blows hard. Feel free to send me a message if you head to st clair, Ill tell you what I know. Im no pro but Ive fished here a couple years.
