Location: Maplewood, MN | Do you palm your reel or hold the foregrip?
I've used a NaCl 60 and Avid 300 for the last couple of years. I always palm reels and am comfortable doing so. I recently fished with a Beast 60 all day and found palming very uncomfortable. After a full day of burning, my palm was nearly numb. I would switch every few casts to the foregrip which I haven't done before. Anyone else experience this? |

| The only reel I palm is my nacl 50hs, which is on my jerkbait reel (more control while palming). My other two I hold the foregrip. I dont need as much finesse control when I am just reeling in bucktails or cranks. Foregrip also makes it easier to give the bait a good rip. I also find it easier to translation into the figure 8 since I can put my right hand on the reel and be ready to cast right away. |

Location: Pewaukee, WI | Sounds very much like what you are experiencing is the symptoms of a carpel tunnel affliction. You might want to have it checked out. |

No, I was using the lowpro. Never had that happen before with my NaCl! |

You may be right.... I just researched symptoms and I do get numbness in my pointer and middle finger time to time while fishing.... I guess I should ice it from time to time! |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Place your NACL next to the beast and compare the palming plate shape and size. They are very similar in height and size, with the biggest difference being the back of the NACL is 'pointed', which quite a few people found uncomfortable, and the Beast is rounded, like the shape of your hand. Are you using a rod with a palming seat, or a traditional seat? |

Location: Maplewood, MN | The Beast felt much taller to me. Could've just been a combo of a new reel feel and burning all day with a HS. |

Location: Pewaukee, WI | I had the same symptoms as you from a weeks worth of 12 hr. days palming the reel. I lived in denial for a year before it got so bad I started to loose sleep. I then went to a specialist and had it evaluated and he told me that he couldn't promise I'd get the full feeling back without some tingling from nerve damage from waiting so long. He operated on it and fortunately for me I made a full recovery and lost the pain and tingling completely. I was lucky. Don't make the same mistake. Have it evaluated now before it gets any worse. |

Location: mercer wi | I had carpal tunnel surgery in april. Was best thing I've ever done with my fishing, exceptaybe a mosquito head net. I had issues last year with thumb pointer and muddle goin knumb after 15 minutes of holding reel. Try ed diffrent reels rods holds on rod jig ripper. Everything to no solution.
If you do decide to have surgery, I suggest tolling to people in your area who's has it and see what surging is the best. I had 2 option iny area and the Dr I has do mine came very highly recommend over the other.
It was worth it in my case |

| For me how I hold the rod with two fingers in front and two behind the trigger I prefer my Nacl's over my beasts for how it fits (I can't get up on top of the spool where my thumb can rest). I also love the reel seats on the st croix mojo line, where other brands like ti and and shimono( the trigger distance to base of the reel is different by minimal amounts) but I survive
Edit- I can feel and see the performance gains of beasts so I use them more often. Can't wait to get my rocket that shipped yesterday |
