Location: Tennessee | I have Folbes on the sides of my boat but need a couple for propwash. Only thing I'm not crazy about with the Folbes is due to my gunnel design I've had to mount them down in the boat and use the extensions to get them high enough and these twist alot even with moderate sized baits. I haven't tried the Down East for this but seems like a hookup in propwash could cause the rod to pull out of the holder. Any other options out there? |

Location: Sycamore, IL | I've used down easts for years as a prop wash holder with no issues. I just went with a Cisco rod holder with chicken ring and 15" extention for my new set up. Virtually infinite rod angles. Seems really secure, but not sure if it's better yet...I'm not digging having to pull the rod through the holder to get it free. Check out Trojan tackle...they can make all sorts of mounts for DE's that look bullet proof. I'm thinking of going that route if I can't get used to the Cisco. |

Location: WI | I use Down East. No problems with them ever. My prop wash rod is usually angled out 45 degrees (not straight back, I don't want the reel to take all the stress upon the strike) and the tip is near, but not in the water. Not a sharp down angle like some run with their rods halfway in the water.
I've caught dozens of fish in the prop wash using the Down East holders. |

| I'm not a troller but I thought you were supposed to loosen the drag so you can easily pull line out by hand when the bait is running in the water? |

Location: WI | My drags are usually set just a little bit lighter than casting. I don't lock drags down for casting, good way to lose a fish. When I set up for trolling, just sweep the rod at trolling speed and the drag should slip a little. |
