My steering assembly is ginding while turning right and has a bunch of rust coming out of the bottom of it so it's time to replace it. Anyone replaced a steering assembly on a terrova? I have the head off and the shaft is already removed, just looking for advice on how to remove the rod the assembly is pivoting on. I don't want to pound too hard if there's a trick to removing it.

Thanks in advance

Joe

I meant to put this in the motor and boat section, but not sure how to change it.

I would just take it to a licensed dealer and have them do it. I think that job runs in the $400-$500 range based on what I heard from a fellow fisherman who had the job done a few years ago. I'd take that number with a grain of salt.

According to this there are some gears and bearings that can be replaced. You may not need an entire housing.
