Anyone stayed recently at Frolanders, in Monument Bay? Looking for housekeeping options where gas/ice are reliably available... I am familiar with several other camp options in the region, but only know this one by name/location.

Any input appreciated.

I know the resort has been up for sale for a while now. From what I have heard they have not/have not been able to take great care of it for a while so the facilities are sub-par compared to other resorts in the area. The location is awesome though.

You could look at Flag Island or Youngs Bay

Location: Wisconsin Rapids, WI
I stayed at Frolander's in July of '15 and was happy with the facilities. Yes, ice and gas are readily available. Gas wasn't cheap, but I expected that. The meals were better than I expected. Jan is a great cook, and Ed grilled New York Strips for us one night. You just can't beat the location, either.

I'm headed back there next Sunday for a week and can give you an update when I get back.

Thanks for the input.

Frolanders confirmed American plan only, so just doesn't work for us. Looking forward to getting a second trip (annually) in sometime soon so that we can try out the NW Angle region. A couple of those other places seem good fits for our style.

Big Narrows shut down early for the season -- unexpectedly -- so got left in the lurch a bit. But think we've lined up an outpost house up in that area.

Hoping to catch a late summer pattern in early Sep....

Location: Aurora
Sandy's Blackhawk Island Resort has housekeeping plans also.
Short boat ride out of young's bay to the island.

I've stayed at Frolanders in the past. Never came in for meals. They wrapped them up and put them in the mini fridge for us in the cabin. We heated our food the first year on a propane stove and the next year we went they put a microwave in the cabin for us. We ate the lunch and dinners provided on our own time, but skipped breakfast because I don't get up at 7 am when I'm on vacation!

Stay on the mainland…easy access, cheaper gas, easy access to the west side, the north and the east…Angle Outpost is excellent a second choice would be Young’s Bay…I live at the Angle and would choose Angle Outpost…easy access (1 mile ) to the bar and or restaurant…outstanding owners and staff…
