Has anyone tried the Gander Mountain Angler Series Musky Rods(8' and 8'6")? If so, thoughts? Their price is $99 to $109.

I use a couple. They work pretty good if you're looking at a rod on a budget. However, the extra $50 for a TI or st croix mojo... Worth the $50. All but a small Bucktail rod of theirs I have, a GSX if I remember right. I love that #*^@ rod, it flings reed runner spinnerbaits and Vibrax's amazingly for me. But that isn't an angler series either, so yeah.

I think I have the GSX 8'6" for my light bucktail rod, and an old 8' Pro Select H, both bought on clearance and very happy with both. That old 8' is my favorite rod, used it for everything from Husky Jerks to Mag Dawgs, only thing I don't like it for is dbl 10s. I don't know whose blanks they use currently but I know the old Pro Select I have was the same blank as Shimano. Obviously these are not the Angler series but I wouldn't think the difference to be too dramatic. Generally the Gander rods perform well for the price, though personally I'd wait till they're on sale--Gander usually runs 20% off sales several times a year.

I agree with the post about spending the extra 50.00 and going with a Mojo, unless you find them on sale for 20% off. Super rods if you can get them for 80 bucks.
