| I get 33ish. My boat is slow out of the hole though. I am planning on moving it to the 2nd set of holes and getting a stainless prop which I heard will help with this.
What are you guys running for props? |

| Thanks for the input. I was talking about Tuffy. Considering upsizing the esox magnum for bigger water.

| The full number on my prop is 77342A45P15. I would say that it take anywhere from 12 to 20 seconds to get out of the hole depending on load. I trim the motor almost all the way down and work it to level as the boat speeds up. Top speed is 33mph at about 6000 RPMs.
Thanks for the help. |

I think that's what you have. What you need is the prop Jeff is running. Also, always start out with the engine trimmed all the way down, and as the boat flattens out, you should already be trimming the engine up. I think you are underpropped by a pitch, and she's slipping at top RPM. Probably will red line trimmed up as far as it should be.
Is it a 4 blade? |

| Ditto for me on the 32 MPH. Mercury two stroke. i also have a "whale tail" on mine to get out of the hole quicker. i think Jeff Hanson does also. I have the same prop that Jeff has, too. i think that's the only one that really works for that rig.
The formula for the max HP on that boat as a hand tiller needs to be changed, it probably needs to be changed for others also.

| Thank you Jeff and Steve. Yes I am currently running a Merc prop that is a 3 blade. I will have to look into the 4 blade option. Jeff if you have an extra one laying around I would be happy to take it off your hands.

There are several options for the prop that run the boat well depending on whether one wants best top end, heavy load performance, hole shot and big water performance, etc.
The formula for the horsepower tiller rating is not up to the builder, it's a US Coast Guard formula based upon seating and visibility to the front for the driver due to seat pacement, etc, the fact a tiller can be turned on a dime (Much faster than with a wheel), weight distribution, etc, and is unfortunately not going to change. |

| The prop you have looks to be a Black Max 15P aluminum prop. Could be a couple things going on with this prop. Slipping, flex, not enough blade contact with the water.
I would find a dealer that has a prop demo program, and see if they have a prop like Jeff is using, and try it out. It is a 4 blade Stainless steel Prop, and has the PVSĀ® (Performance Vent System). PVS can be tuned for best hole shot, and does not affect top end. |

| Hi Shep,
I have asked a couple of dealers about the prop demo program and they all look at me like I am crazy. I am in Western WI, do you know any deals in WI that will do this?
