So sad to see this beautiful 40"+ musky floating in Browns bay on tonka today. It had black braided line wrapped around it's gills. Possible naive fisherman who handled the fish improperly or a line breaker. Can't really tell. Very healthy looking and fat fish. Just the kind that musky anglers are hunting on Tonka.

My buddy sent me a photo of that exact fish on saturday morning. He seen it out by diamond reef. Always sad to see. But accidents do happen unfortunately.

It probably hit a Bass fisherman's lure and then rolled and cut the line. The Bass guys seem to prefer 20 to 30 lb braids and that is not going to stand up well to a Muskie's gill plates. Can't really expect Bass fishermen to suit up with 80 to 100 lb super braids like we do, can we? Bummer, but it happens.

That's unfortunate to hear. I had a friend send me a picture of a fish about the same size on Detroit lakes. It didn't seem to have any marks on it or fishing line. I really hope it just died of natural causes but who knows. Always unfortunate but sometimes there is nothing you can do even if you are prepared for everything.
