| Have a lot of problems with bulldogs getting tangled when casting. Hooks over leader, hooks in tail, etc. Using a flouro leader. Is a wire leader better? |

Doubt the leader is the problem.
There was an article (I think in Musky Hunter) a few years back about casting dawgs to eliminate the "dawg balls".
To summarize it: leave a bit more line out (say 4 or 5'), cast the lure more with a pendulum style (not trying to whip it). This should help the lure to fly out with the tail straight back. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Also you can tag your hooks into the belly. I also thumb my reel right before the lure hits the water to straighten the dawg out in the air. That seems to help too...

Location: Waukee, IA | The two answers above are what I did to fix the same problem. Dawgs or any big rubber will foul occasionally, but using the methods outlined by 14ledo81 and Tackle Industries will reduce it to an occasional annoyance |
