Hey guys I am shopping for a new boat and looking at the Lowe deep v models. The price difference between the 1710 and the 1810 is not huge so I am debating on which to get. The width of both boats is the same. One disadvantage of the 1810 is that it only comes in walk through dash where the 1710 also comes in side console which I prefer.

What are your thoughts on how much difference the extra foot makes for stability and usability?

I really liked the single console lots of room to move around easy. I now will sacrifice the space for a windshield to protect from the elements rough water, bugs, rain, etc..

I cant get either into my garage, the 1710 would just barely fit length wise (6inch clearance) but both are too wide for the door. Will be stored outside covered or under a metal carport during the summer and at mt barn at the cabin in the winter.

Pretty sure the extra foot that the 1810 has is in the cockpit, but if you have the walk through with that it will probably make the front deck smaller. Otherwise the decks are the same size in both models, but you would have alot more room up front with the single console. If your musky fishing alot, i myself would get the 1710 with the side console.

I don't know where you fish but for long rough rides I can see the advantages of the dual walk thru but personally I can't stand anything but a tiller and the side console will definately feel roomier. If you prefer single side console then I'd stick with what you like. Either way I think you'll be happy, I just pulled the trigger on a new Lowe FM tiller and this thing is awesome and build like a tank.

I would get an 18'er with single console - as in look at different manufacturer.

Comes down to what you want. I had a single console nice boat .my mom started going fishing on nice days when it don't get to hot. I went to a dual console she likes that much better .she will be 86 this year she likes to have something to hide behind. When she comes with it only go 20 MPH after that she said she it's to fast slow down. So yes you will lose some space up front but if you have a wife or girl friend they will appreciate having something to hide behind

If you cast a lot, flip, etc for bass, Muskie, etc ... I would opt for a side console. I had a Ranger Reata walk thru for 3 years and really learned to dislike it. Dam windshield always in the way of something.
