Location: Minnetonka MN | Hi guys, taking a good friend who lives on Pewaukee out on Saturday for his first ever musky outing. I have read the posts that are still on this site. It sounds like there will be a crap-ton of boats out there to watch out for. It is a numbers lake, with mostly under 40" fish which is no issue.
I will be studying the lake maps before we get there.
Any other recommendations appreciated.

Location: Chicago, IL | Hey Mike & Rangerr83- I'm heading up there Sun with my wife and dog. Going to fish for a few hours in the morning. If you think of it, could you please let me know how you did Sat? Rangerr83- I'd also appreciate any insights. I've fished Pewaukee before once or twice but it's been years and both times were in the fall. Thanks, guys.

| The last 2 weekends have been crazy with boats out there. My advice is go early in the morning, or later in the afternoon to avoid the peak hours of boat traffic on the lake.
If sunny out? Head deep to fish. If dark skies? Then fish may be up in the weeds and weed edges.
Lots of bait in that lake right now, and clearer water, so it is getting tougher to get fish to bite. |

Location: Chicago, IL | Got it... Thanks Vegas492. Appreciate the heads up on boat traffic- figured it would be that way. May just stick a Bondy bait in the rod holder and let the wave action do its thing |

Location: Chicago, IL | Fished for a few hours Sun with no luck. Pleasure boaters took control of the lake around 11am. Nice weed growth all the way out to 14 fow. |

| Missed one Friday night casting. Big hit, then gone.
Missed one while trolling Saturday morning. Got ripped, picked up the rod, felt a few weak head shakes and it was gone.
I know that Friday night was a great night on the water. Witnessed a few fish caught, heard of even more.
Water has to be boiling hot right now out there. Best to wait a day or two for the cold nights to cool her down, then get back at it. |

Location: Minnetonka MN | Thanks for the help guys. I took my buddy and his 7-year old son Henry out for a few hours last Saturday morning. We put a 34" musky in the bag around 9am on a #8 Dadson blade. There were quite a few boats out there, and plenty of pleasure cruisers running around to compete with. That was the only fish we saw, but the kid had the thrill of his life! He might be hooked for life.

Location: Minnetonka MN | Thanks Ranger83. Very helpful information for my first time on Pewaukee. There weren't as many boats on the lake as I feared either. A very pleasant first experience on a smoking hot day. |
