| I was wondering if the 8 ft measurement alumacraft put on their rod locker is accurate, i have a couple 8 6 rods that i was hoping to fit in them or is there a way to modify the rod lockers, i know sometimes you can fit a little longer rods in the top racks of the locker. Im currently looking a little at prices and it seems like the 185 competitor is a whole lot of boat for the money but the rod locker maybe the deal breaker because i hate having 500$ combos on the decks for towing. Basically there are alot of nice 18 ft tillers, i like the pro guide 1875, and tuffy 1890, but from what i see the alumacraft has the best price and seems like a nice boat as well. Even the alumacraft 175 maybe a contender because that huge beam gives you a ton of room. Thanks in advance and lets not make it a fiberglass vs aluminum debate alot of good boats of both types now adays, but the savings of alumacraft can get me some nice electronics and a just encase box |

| I question the super wide beams in tillers with a 90hp maximum.
I really like the alums crafts clean deck layout but totally agree with the rod storage points you made. |

| I bought a 2016 Alumacraft 165 Competitor SC as the 175 i wanted was a month and half out to get.
On the 165 the center rod locker is 7' 6" and that's it. Not a 1/4 inch more to give or push in.
The rod locker on the side is for 8' rods and i can fit 8' 6" rods.
I love my 165 Competitor, but i did not see this on the show room floor. All the storage doors are not water proof or have run off lips. Was fishing a few weeks ago and it rained 1/2 hour (everything was wet in storage).

| Thats intresting because the specs say the 165 center is up to 7 and side is up to 8, so it would seem they are about a half foot conservative which is good news because it even opens the possibility of a 165, thanks for the info. I have read that about the dry storage which is a bummer but not a deal breaker |

| I ran a 185 tiller for two seasons and have nothing but stellar things to say about that boat. I wish I still had it many days. It ran mid 30's with two guys fully loaded with all my gear. I don't think you'd get an 8'6" in the center locker without taking out the rod tubes, which I did and I fit all my sticks in there with socks on them. I use mainly telescoping rods so none of mine are longer than 8' telescoped down but I'm pretty sure the starboard locker fits 9' rods if I remember correctly. I always kept my walleye rods in there so I'm not 100% positive on that length. Best thing to do is email Alumacraft and they'll let you know. They're customer service is outstanding. |

| I just got emailed back and they said that the specs on the site should be accurate, we are actually going to a dealer this weekend and going to run the numbers and im going to bring my 8 6 rod to try to fit in the 165 side locker..... If all goes well my wife gave me the green light on a 165. But im only going to be buying if all the cards fall right and the price is right |
