Yes they work fine for big rubber/jerks. They last a long time since they don't bend easily.

I'm sure they will work. But way overkill.

They worked on some but not all my Jerkbaits - weight seemed to be the issue - as mentioned this is overkill - try Spro wire leaders with the swivel cut off and tie directly to the wire loop - - - -

.051 is pretty heavy and could upset the action. Any reason for such heavy wire?

.051 is pretty light compared to my welding rod leaders. I got the tip about welding rods as leader material from some good ol' boys down in Kentucky. Durability is fantastic! I had one leader last 3 seasons!

I made one for throwing big rubber and jerks. Had it on my rod last fall and decided to throw a big game twitchbait and still caught fish. Didn't notice much impact on the action of the crankbait while ripping it. The advantage is that they won't bend or kink like lighter single strand.

I have used .035 wire for leaders and that is about as heavy as I want for leader wire.

Any idea on the rating of that wire? I'm guessing it at 50 - 75 LB.

Try about 250lb. I know .029 is 174lb and this is heavier than that.
