Hey guys-

I am looking to buy a kayak for 700 bucks or below (new or used). I am looking to stand up and cast it (primarily) vs. trolling. I have been looking around at different brand but wanted to ask anyone who owns a kayak and stands and casts out of it which brand/model they would recommend that is stable enough for standing?

It will be used for fishing relatively small lakes. Thanks!

If you can find a used Ocean Kayak Prowler/Trident 13 I think you'll be very happy. Huge aftermarket and community around them as well. They have some other models like the Big Game that are wider/heavier if that's a problem.

Just don't skimp on the paddle.

My advice is to find a place that rents them and see if they sell the ones they rent. I picked up a couple of jackson coosas for around your target price. They are awesome for standing and casting and handle rivers like a charm and big water way better than you would think, I use them on lake michigan alll the time. Plus there is plenty of room to run a sonar store a net and drag chain/anchor and all my gear.
I agree with the other post, dont skimp on the paddle, I have a skagit and it is worth every penny.
