Location: BLOOMINGTON,IL		Currently I have a HDS7 Gen 1 for Navigation and Sonar. I am looking to move that unit to the bow and buying something new for the console. I would really like to spend less than $1000 I am very undecided about side imaging or down imaging.

I was reading the other post about side imaging. I guess for me, I was thinking down imaging would be better for walleye fishing but not so much for musky.

Then the big question is Hummingbird vs Lowrance?

Location: BLOOMINGTON,IL		Just doing a little looking at Cabelas - Humminbird® 999ci HD SI Sonar Combo is 899, but the Humminbird® Helix™ 7 SI Sonar/GPS Combo is 699.

What am I missing as their major differences?

Location: Hayward, WI		999 has HD SI and is networkable, and bigger screen. Helix 7 is a stand alone unit and does not have HD SI, just standard.
