I am considering upgrading my depth finders. I am not so concerned about which make and model as much as where I should invest the most. I will spend 90% of my time casting while fishing. The other 10% would be trolling or scouting. I would like to have a nice finder for the bow but I would also like to have a GPS. If I want a GPS/finder I am assuming the console is the place for it? How do most people set up their boat? I have a Lowrance X25A on the console and a POS on the bow. It will be hard to justify spending more than $500. I figure I have three options. One, keep the Lowrance and buy a bow unit w/o GPS. Two, move the Lowrance to the bow and buy a finder with GPS for the console? Or three, go with option one and buy a hand held GPS later. What would you do? (The transceiver for the Lowrance is glassed in.)

Put the X-25 on the bow, and get a LMS320 for the console, if.....

If the x-25 does an adequate job of showing you the weeds, and bottom. Very rare you actually "see" fish on the bowmount, but it is important to be able to distinguish the weed edge, and bottom content.

ThorneBros.com has the LMS-320 on sale for $529, with free speed wheel and free freight. Just a little over your price, but this is a good sonar for the console, and has GPS to boot. It is Waas enabled, and you can use the Navionics maps.

Lowrance.com should have a emulator you can download to try it out and help you make a decision.
