While at the musky shows this past winter I stopped by the okuma fishing booth to check out what they had. It's what I didn't see that left me heartbroken. The savage gear 4-play low rider. Yep, the other two 4-play models were there, just not the one that runs deeper and way way WAY more erratic. I suspect nobody bought it, anyone I have seen with a 4-play bait has one of the other models. They don't work like the low rider. Not even close. I did contact okuma and talked to the reps. So far I have not heard anything. I have caught alot of fish on that bait. Even had a 50 eat it just didn't clamp down.

If you like this bait, tell okuma fishing. They discontinued their best fish producing bait.

I haven't run into this issue Muskie fishing yet. But walleye and salmon fishing my father and I had a few favorite baits or colors discontinued then you start the great hunt to locate them... websites like this, and ebay ect. always checking bait shops posting want ads on multiple sites for years on end till you build enough stock up.

Best producing bait? Hardly... that title belongs to their deadly line thru trout series followed by some other great baits as well.

It is the best bait I have used from them and I have many. I dont have the trout. How do you work the trout and how deep does it go? The lowider is an amazing twitch and jerk bait that works great off the weed edge or deep weeds.

The ms versions go deep, about 4-5 meters
the ss versions stay in about a meter of water, very good if your fishing over the weeds

But those baits are swimbaits, not jerkbaits, they work best on a steady slow retrive

I am sure they are great baits but I do not steady retrieve anything. Why I do not throw bucktails much. Savage gear discontinued one of the most erratic twitch baits ever made.
