Does anyone modify anything on this lure to improve hooking (so the fish cannot throw the lure as easily)?

The only mod I have done is to T the belly hook. I caught a big bass on one last year and 10min later lost what would have been my personal best walleye at boatside. The bait is not super erratic, does not seem to me to be a lure that would have a hookup problem. Being the lure is a softwood, T the hook, that may be part of the problem.

I think he means because of the extreem weight and shape of the lure that it would be shook free too easy, not the hook up problem. I have one and have yet to put it in a ski's mouth but love the lure. Casts a MILE, has a nice slow side to side wobble on retreive, looks edible for sure, trolls very nice (wont pop board clips). I caught a huge Norhtern on mine last year trolling it with no hook up problem or lost fish. Make double sure the hooks are very sharp so the hookset is in deep, and keep the line tight. They shouldn't throw it.
