Location: Kalamazoo, MI | Im not sure if this is a common knowledge thing that I havent heard of or not, but I accidentally came up with a good way to hook swivels/leaders/etc to those spinnerbaits that come without a loop. I have a few large bass spinnerbaits (1-2oz) but they never come with a loop bend, they just have the open bend. I had used a small piece of surgical tubing in the past, but every once and awhile it would slip, and I never trusted it to hang on if things tried to straighten out. This on the other hand, adds quite a bit of strength to the open bend. Put one small split ring (size 2 or 3 should do) over the bend like you normally would your surgical tubing. Then attach another perpendicular to it like you would normally hook up to the lure. The end result is a better product I think!

Location: Holly, MI | Great tip! I've bent them shut and on some the opening gets small enough that I have a rough time getting the snap hooked in. Ever try bending one of the Titanium ones shut?..They bounce right back! This will cure those bouncy critters. Thanks spieg! (a perfect example of what this board is for) |

| That's a great idea! I have one spinnerbait I bought from Thorne Bros. that I mistakenly purchased that had the bend, not the loop at the top. I love their big bass spinnerbaits early in the season, but I haven't used this one because of this problem. It's been frustrating looking at it sitting in my tackle box unused. Now I can break it out!! |
