Thinking about selling my Calcutta 400TE to get a ABU Garcia Beast. What is it worth with 80# Masterbraid with power handle, reg. handle, and original box?

Condition is everything.

If they've been taken care of or even better have been "pimped" by Pikemaster, I'd say they are worth about as much or more than the retail cost of an ABU Garcia Beast.

Usually only about $25, but since you're a member here, I'll take it off your hands for $50.

I sold mine mid-last season to trade up to the Conquest 400. Mine was in great shape. I sold it for $285, felt pretty good about it, and the kid that I sold it to proceeded to go out and catch a few good fish with it so he felt pretty good about it too.

it's worth more than the one you are considering ... for a reason.

Conquest TE's are the smoothest reel I have ever used/owned... had a TE too...sold it... I would sell it for a Tranx vs Beast

Brad, what did you not like about the Beast? Where did it fall short compared to the tranks?

I had a Tranx. I didn't like it, but only because I found it to be too big for my tastes. The Beast does a great job for me. Go somewhere you can actually put both in your hands at the same time and compare. Both are great reels, and a lot comes down to personal preference.

maybe, a beast will not reel in 10s at the same speed as an Tranx HG .... speed at times is a factor from getting a hit, or not getting a hit...I'll take the faster reel all day.

Nothing comes close to a tranx in performance when speed is needed, that beeing said the toro beast is a sweet all round reel.

I think I decided to just keep it. Most durable reel I've had.
