| Anyone have this rod and what are your comments regarding it's ability to throw a variety of bucktails? I have a 8' XH and it is too stiff IMO to throw smaller to even medium size bucktails. |

Location: St Paul, Minnesota | I agree with Landry. The longer rod will throw pretty much all baits better. I don't want to say "all" incase someone has an exception that I can't think of, but it will throw small and larger baits better as long as you don't overpower or underpower the rod. I've used the 9'6 XH (which feels like a St. Croix Heavy) and it was a decent rod for tossing pretty much everything topping out at Mag size Bulldawgs. By letting the rod load with the extra length you'll feel the better casting distance and control because you won't be trying to force the cast. Plus they shrink and can store easy. Don't be weirded out by the telescoping rods, they're in like their third generation of them and they're actually pretty solid.

Location: Chicago, IL | I have four or five compres. The 8'6" H is my small bucktail rod and I love it. I threw it some earlier this spring with a rattle trap and it was a little too heavy for that application, but it's great for small blades. I've caught some nice fish in the eight with it. The 8' XH is great for jigging Bondy Baits. The 9'6" is great for double tens. |

Location: Madison, WI | The Compre was my first 9' rod and I thought it was great. Casting, figure 8's, retrieving... The longer rods give me a lot more control all around. I've never gone back to anything shorter. The Compre's not my main rod anymore but it's always in the boat with me with a lure on it and ready to sub in anytime I need it. |
