Best Depthfinder Around 350 Bucks...

Anyone have any recommendations as to the best depthfinder for around 350 bucks?

I have looked at the Humminbird Matrix 35, Garmin 240 Blue, Lowrance X-87...

The Humminbird has some pretty neat options, however my last depthfider was a Humminbird, and it turned out to be a POS.. To the shop twice in 4 years to be fixed, the LCD screen keeps frying...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks....

Yeah, my H-bird seems to be dying, too. I'm told that Furuno makes a nice unit for around $399, supposed to top all name brands in pixels, power, etc. Worth looking into, furuno.com I think. m

John,

Garmin 240 or Eagle 320 would probably be my choices. I have owned several 240's, I don't think you need the "blue" but that's your call. Personally I don't have much faith in Hummingbird quality, I had too many of them give me problems years ago and I vowed "never again" about 10 years ago. Garmin and Eagle/Lowrance products have served me well over the years.

I just got an eagle 320, and love it.  However, it doesn't show the arcs really clear(like on the box), is this normal?  None of my locators, have really shown those defined arcs well.  I really like the 320 so far though, and the price was right.

Jason,

Only one I've ever had show the arcs well is my X-15, I played with my transducer angle on my last 240 and got it to show them pretty decent but not like they show on the box. Personally I think they are going over whales or something to get arcs that big...LOL

Raymarine's 365 is also in that price range, and is an excellent sonar.

Have experience with eagle and lowrance, very easy to use. My vote would go got the eagle 320 or the lowrance x-87.

Definitely recommend the Garmin 240 or 160. I use a 160 up on my bow, and now wish my console had a 240. Very easy to use.

I have both Lowrance and Garmin and can safely recommend the Garmin 240. You won't need the blue unless you do a lot of salt water, deep water fishing. The Garmin is the most intuitive easy to operate unit I have ever had. Turn it on and forget it.

We just bought the Garmin 240 and 162 GPS map. We are very pleased with them so far. Great units for the price.
