Anyone fish this lake with success? Its electric only, correct? What structure should I be looking for? What lures/colors are successful? The '99 DNR report says the musky populations is declining: "spring nettings indicate a declining abundance of this species." Does anyone have any comments on that.

Rebecca is a brood stock lake so most people just stay away. These fish are the future of the stocking program and should be left alone in my oppinion. If your looking for an electric only lake, you'd be way better to go to Nokomis, Calhoun or Harriet.

I don't know why everyone thinks it's taboo to fish this lake. Bald Eagle is also brood stock lake and gets pounded.

The DNR says you can fish, then do so !

Lake Rebecca is "THE" brood stocking lake in the Twin Cities. That is where all the eggs for the metro stocking program come from. The other brood lakes - Eagle, Bald Eagle, etc, are for backup purposes. However, the DNR has had little success capturing Muskies on those lakes.

The metro stocking effort is dependent on those Muskies in Rebecca. There has been at least one year when there weren't enough eggs from the Muskies in Rebecca to meet the stocking targets. Then the metro stocking was simply reduced and that means fewer Muskies. If you want good metro Muskie fishing, leave those Muskies in Rebecca alone.

The fact is, Independence and Minnetonka both offer a better population and a chance at much larger Muskies than anything you will find in Rebecca.

I'd have to agree with Herb and Treats on this one. Please, for the sake of the muskie program in the metro area pick another lake to fish. It is fair game to fish Rebecca, but it only hurts your chances for a trophy future for the rest of the metro area.

I have to say if Herb is correct, I apologize. I didn't realize that Bald Eagle was only for back-up purposes. I stand corrected.

I have never been on Rebecca, and never plan to, so take Herb and Tooth's statements to heart and stay off, there are plenty other good lakes around.

I know this is a really old post, but we were just out today with great luck! The pops and I were out from 7am until 3pm and saw 7 muskie in the 8lb+ range and managed to land a 25 pounder while trolling back to the landing!!! Green spinnerbait used for large bass and northern, works like a charm!

Fishing a lake so critical to Muskie stocking in the midst of the hottest stretch of the year? Hope the water temps were not as high as they were on my local lake...

I must agree with the posts above, the population density is so high there that the fish are always stressed no matter the temperature, time of year etc. the fish are not all that big, and hard to find anyway, so its just best to stay away.

2 of the best lakes the metro has to offer, Tonka and Indy, are very close to Rebecca. There's no reason to possibly harm the future of the sport in the metro area to fish this small lake.

I live 5 min away from this lake. I'll stop by after work when water temps are below 73, but fishing now is a good way to kill a lot of fish. Max depth is like 28 or 33 feet I believe? Warm lake with low oxygen in the depths. As a result the fish really don't get a chance to escape the heat.

FYI - the reason they use this lake for brood stocking is because it warms up faster so they can net earlier. Getting eggs earlier = more time for fry to grow = better survival rates
