I plan on using Rapalas this spring for the first time for Musky. Super Shad Raps and Magnums seem to be the most suggested. It looks like singe wire will be best but what pound and how to attach? Split ring? Snap? I don't want a bite-off but I don't want to mess up the action of the lure either. Also, I read people saying to replace the hooks. Mostly they say to 3/0, but what kind of 3/0 and what size split ring? Thanks!

.022 to .029 (100# to 174#)
Split ring? Yes
Snap? Not for me
Maybe go without a swivel as well if this is dedicated rod I am fishing Rapalas with

On a Super Shad Rap, I place a 5/0 on the body and leave the rear hook alone. If it is any kind of muskie that has been around for more that 5 yrs its learned to hit the head where the 5/0 hook is.
I'm not sure what I would put on the Mag Rapalas but you have to be careful, if you go too large that will kill the action faster than a heavy leader.

If it doesn't mess up the action yes, a 3/0 round bend wire hook will work.
Again I would look at the split rings to see if they are beefy enough. On the Super Shad Rap the split rings are strong enough, but they can open up (between the rings) when placing a heavy hook on it, so I just replace with a #7 Worth ring.

I have good success with Rapala's salt water X-Rap. A medium sized jerkbait. It has great hooks 3/0, nothing needs replacing. Just work it as you would any other jerkbait. Give the bait a couple of good twitches and pause it for 2 to 5 seconds - repeat.

The rapala magnum has the beefy saltwater hooks on them, no need to replace those in my opinion. The Super Shad Rap comes with the vmc 8650 3/0. I caught tones of big pike on that hook without any problem, but if you dont feel comfortable you could upgrade to a 2x hook. I would go with the same size as I feel they are big enough.
