| Hey folks, was interested in this new Auto Chart Live that Humminbird has put out. Have been doing some reading on it then wondered....
What other options is there for building your own lake maps without having to upload them for everyone to use ie - Navionics.
These helix units sem sweet and the price is good, but I think you also have to buy The Auto Cart Pro and a Zero Lines Card in order to build continuous maps of a large wate rbody? |

| I don't have the live version but I really like the auto chart pro in tandem with my 999si unit, I can only guess the live version is just as good if not better...

Location: davis,IL | I had a couple of slightly older units last year ( 597 & 798) that I was working with along with Autochart Pro. Never could quite get the recordings to convert correctly on the pc. With the Helix's you can watch it make the maps as your going along, really cool. Your also not stuck with staying on the recording screen, I did a split screen today, chart with track on one side and regular 2d on the other. The depth contours appear right behind your boat icon (track) on the chart as you move along. As long as you have the sd card unlocked you are recording and doing the conversion to the zero lines card live, so no need to upload anything to your pc. |

| It was my understanding from some reading yesterday that when saving directly to the zero lines card, your are saving 3 sets of data, Sonar, Gps, and the Map. This takes a lot of space and there is only 16gb of free space on that card. From what I read it seems you are better off to save to standard SD card, then run it through software on PC and save completed map to zero line card? Whats so special about this zero lines card that they can justify the inflated price for it?...100 bucks up here in Canada |

| If you fish rite up on the shoreline "zero lines" card is better because it uses the actual edge of lakes rather than a straight edged approximation. |
