I frequent this forum on a weekly bases and noticed that most of you are from the Wisconsin and Midwest areas. How many of you fish the St. Lawrence River? I am kind of new to the musky world and would like to hear from others around my area. I am interested in hearing what others that fish the St. Lawrence River are having luck using.

I'm having most of my "luck" using Capt. Paul Corbett of Irish Hammer Sportfishing/Charters. LOL.
All kidding aside hiring a guide will be money well spent. I have my own boat but look forward to hunting with a "pro" at least once each fall. It's mostly a trolling game up here and although the technique may seem simple on the surface it takes cosiderably longer become proficient at than burning 10's over weed tops or working a glide bait. If you don't want to go with a guide than focus your efforts between oct. and dec.15. Most guys up here are trolling 8"-12" deep divers off riggers or boards with far set backs. Expect long hours/days between fish but the scenery and serenity of the St. Lawrence/1000 islands never gets old.

I'm up near the seaway in St-Lawrence county. I usually spend most of my time casting, but not against trolling.

Getting on a casting bite is tough. But tubes work ;). Crystal clear water, try night fishing in the summer.

Muskies Canada has a few chapters on the river. A lot of guys who fish the river are very secretive about it

I know a couple guys from PA. that do well with tubes every year just after opening day down towards Massena. Just make sure you have extra tubes $$ because the northerns will destroy them. Speaking of pike, they are great practice for improving your C&R skills. I prefer not to net them or remove them from the water for unhooking. Mind you these are jigged fish (single hook). If it took a musky lure while trolling then in the net IN the water they get worked on just like a musky. On a final note don't forget about the Grasse River or Oswegatchie. For the few times I've fished them I did well casting large buzz baits and topwaters from my canoe.

NYS also has Lake Chautauqua a literal musky factory as well as the Niagara river a great musky fishery and many other smaller Musky lakes.
