| Some lakes are open in MN and I am curious if I can legally do any muskie fishing before the water hits spawning temperature. I know I would be catch and release only, as the season opens in June. Anyone else fish early like this? |

Location: MN | I prefer not breaking the law. You can always Panfish.

I'm not trolling- I was just curious.
Then I apologize for the sarcasm... the skeptic in me assumed that it was common knowledge that targeting game fish during a closed season was illegal. Have an exceptional evening. |

| The itch gets pretty bad right now, so I'll preempt your next question: no, removing hooks and casting for muskies still qualifies as harassment of wildlife. |

| There are Musky in the Mississippi further north depending on where you are- I'm not sure of season is closed there as well but you can always cast big lures to target Pike.... |

Season is closed statewide, including rivers. Pike as well are closed until May. |

That's for inland waters- the Mississippi river is considered a border water and Pike season is continuous. (at least where I am I suppose it could be different further north?) |

MN Pike season is same as Walleye, May 14 - Feb 26
The Mississippi is only considered a border water south of the Prescott bridge, and yes Pike are open then.
