hello guys anyone use that rod for magnum bulldawg and lures of 9OZ ,iknow its rated at 8 OZ max but my st-croix rods can take a bit more and i was thinking of getting that one ,thanks

I used to throw pounders with mine. Never had a problem, just upgraded to legend rods because I prefer the palming seat.

Not that long ago thats what we used to throw big baits,rods comparable to that.
Everyone is built different so is everyones opinion. So yes big baits can be thrown with that rod. Rods have evolved and there is better choices but it will work.
XH may be a better choice, if you get a chance try one.

what i am really looking for is a big nasty with the old trigger ! i have a big dawg now and find it too stiff and do not like the palming handle so is the 86 heavy premier kind of like the nasty ?
