Location: Athens, Ohio		I found this thread on an EZ Board about Kentucky fishing. The 'moderator' posted his views on CPR:
In the case of Muskie on Cave Run it is managed knowing that fish are harvested..if we didn't take any fish(muskie) from Cave Run the fish would soon start to suffer. Muskies are large predator fish, if we continue to stock them every other year they would soon start to loose body weight from lack of forage. I am not saying we need to keep every keeper.. I'm just saying harvesting some of these fish every year is what the Fish and Game regulators expect.Bass on the other hand has a lot larger window before reaching the caring limit. This fish also has a lot more pressure so in my opinion catch and release plays a big part in keeping the numbers up. We also suggest having bait saver or one of the other anti-bacterial dips in your boat. fish that you release should be dipped before releasing this will cut down on infections that accrues from handling the fish.

There is plenty of people who eat muskies on the Cave. Some of them are guides. I'm not gonna tell you who, but there are muskie guides who keep some fish to feed their families.

If you're gonna kill a musky, I'm glad you're gonna eat it. Truth is, most dudes in KY are pretty broke and if you're a musky fishermen, you're even more broke. So I don't blame 'em for eating some every now and again.

The only thing I hate is when the locals pitch fork the big mommas as they lay in the feeder creeks in the spring. Those SOB's need to be speared.
