I would either choose early July or early August to avoid the musky camps/schools/club outings. |

| I think the weather will matter more than picking a week now. There's no way to predict it, so pick a week that works best for you and go for it. |

Location: Contrarian Island | I agree weather trumps all but also agree avoiding any of the various schools up there... I also like moon down when fishing daytime hours as we don't really night fish lotw from the safety factor so I'd opt for a full moon week if available as the moon rises late in the day and sets early..so your fishing hours the moon is down... (preferred)

Location: North St. Paul, MN | First week in August, for me. I like the weather is fairly stable (except last year, dang it was cold) AND no bugs! Fish are fairly predictable in location at this time...at least in my experience. |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | 2016 full moon week in July on the Angle already has the Musky Hunter School, and Flatlanders Muskues Inc Group. Not to mention any other musky guys specifically scheduling for that week or other schools I am not aware of.
I was up on that week several years ago...to each their own but when I'm 10 miles out from camp and can literally count 8 musky boats in my line of vision then I will take a pass and pick another week.

| Personally, I don't think it matters too much. As others have said, any week might be better or worse than any other week depending upon prevailing weather--which is totally unpredictable. With that said, if you want to make it an annual trip at the same time, every year, mid/late July and early August would likely offer the most consistent fishing, over the long haul. In some years, in early July with water temps still on the cool side, a big cold front could really make things tough. On the other hand, with the right weather and warming trend, early July can be dynamite. So, basically, pick a week and give it a go. Good luck.
edit to add: the other nice thing about earlier in July is that you probably won't have much of any bloom to deal with. IMHO, it's not that much of a problem in any event, but I know some guys don't like dealing with it.

Location: Warroad, Mn | Too many variables to try and say that one week is better than the other. They can all be great or not so great. Just pick the week that works best for your schedule and enjoy the LOTWs when you get here. Been fishing the lake for over 50 years and there's no bad time!

Location: Contrarian Island | weather is the biggest factor on trips, mid to end of Aug your chances for a Nasssty cold front increase those can really hurt fishing for a few days or more.... mid july to about 2nd week in Aug weather and water temps on avg are prime....all things being equal (weather) I'd pick a moon down week during the day... as said though, pick a week that works for your schedule and roll the dice on the weather. I've been to Canada 9 trips and weather is always the wild card you can't predict... some trips were nasty/harsh/brutal fishing but get a good week weather wise and those are what keeps us coming back |
