| I picked up a Stradic-4000-CL4 this winter and want a spinning rod to throw smaller bucktails with. I plan on throwing single and double bladed tails with it, the size depending on whats comfortable. Probably a lot of single 7's with a bunch of weight added to them to get down and cast better. Ill also be using it for smaller rubber baits and a handful of other smaller stuff. Id like to be able to cast 3oz. What is my best option? I want to stay light weight bc the reel is so light, and Id like an 8footer. Other than the 2 aforementioned rods Im not sure what else is out there, and my search on here yielded those two results only. Whats best Ive never held either of those rods before and they are not for sale any where near me. |

Location: Illinois | The St. Croix Tidemaster inshore spinning rods are great. Light? not certain on that, but great smaller bait musky rod. |

Location: Madison, WI | Pending what you are throwing, you might also want to look into the Cabela's Fish Eagle 50 9' H or XH Salmon rods. For smaller muskie baits, I like the XH. If you are throwing even smaller stuff (#9 Shad Raps and such), you might want to go with the H. |

| Hoosier can have first pass on that. Its a deal no doubt, Im hoping to find something 8ft though. Thanks for all the replies, was not educated on the cabelas options either. |

Location: Mayville, WI | The St. Croix Tidemasters are great rods and that's the direction I'd go. If you're ever up by the factory they usually have a decent selection of "B" stock on the wall for them.

| Im trying to figure out also how heavy of a rod I should get. I have no feel for how powerful the reel will be, it has a pretty long handle, longer then the double handle on my NACL, but it hauls a lot more line in. Im hoping that it will fish double 7's well enough, so that's sort of where Im starting for rod strength. Thanks for the input on the tidemasters! |

| Depends on what you want to throw. If it's heavier baits then definitely check out the Musky Shop Customs. That's pretty much what they were designed for. Tidemaster works real nice for smaller baits like Mepps Musky Killer, Baby Shallow Raiders 6" Slammers etc. |

| If you're going heavier than a couple ounces I'd seriously consider going baitcasting.
With that said, I love my tidemaster. |
