Isnt trophy pike like saying plastic silverware?
Just kidding, never really thought of it, my biggest pike was 40", and I was pissed it had spots and not bars, muskie bigot I guess. For trophy status I would have to say 45"?

My nephew's pike was 41". He wanted to try and release it after 15 minutes of the family taking pictures. I told him I was getting it mounted for him because it was probably the biggest pike he'll ever catch. Trophy status for pike? 40"+    He was in tears......

(the big girl was obviously dead by the time he realized he wanted to release her)

On a trip to Quebec last summer I got the big fish trophy (kind of a stanley cup)for the year on a 18 lb Norhtern. We never did measure length only weight. The year before my regular fishing buddy won on a 24 pounder!
This (18 lb) pike seemed longer than the 17 lb, 42 inch Musky from last saturday. The musky seemed to have more beef to it. Anyone who is good at estimating please give me your guess at length. thanks

I think it depends on where you go. I went to Ontario a few weeks ago and caught over 300 pike in 6 days, but nothing over 28". I will be going to Northern Manitoba in August and I caught a 45", 43" 2 @41". Manitoba, Saskatchewan, NWT, Yukon and Alaska seem to have a lot more trophy potential than anywhere in Ontario. If anyone knows of places to catch trophies in Ontario, please let me know. Here's a picture of my big one last year.

Thanks,
Greg

I consider a 40"er a trophy on larger warters, but on smaller waters a 36"er may be a giant. It's like it has been said before, it all depends on where you fish

I saw an Al Lindner fishing show a few years back. Al said that due to the agressive nature of pike and the ease with which they are caught, anything over 40" is now a tropy fish.

Any Pike over 40" is a trophy to me. I like big Northerns alot, and would much rather catch a 45" pike that a 45" muskie, harder to do unless one heads for exotic locations.Montana and the Dakotas are great for big Pike in the impoundments now, soon I will be working out there and the pike gear will go along.

Here, in the big-fish-arent-our-bag area of Michigan, a 30" pike is rather unusual. Most places here they are almost all around 22-26"

My group just returned from the Northwest Territories. 10 guys 306 pike 41" and larger. Biggest fish 49.5". That's trophy water boys!!!

A trophy is 41" PERIOD. Manitoba has used this measurement for 10+ years.

We were fishing Great Slave Lake...southeast end...Talston River Delta. We were the first again to fish "slave"...the entire lake was frozen over except the 4 miles of water we were on. Works out that way every year.

Talston Bay Big Pike Lodge..new name for an established operation. I've fished it 8 years running. Have averaged 9+ fish 41" and over in the boat per day for 8 straight years. My partner and I had 83 this year alone.

I've taken 28+ float trips over the years...I started in Ontario and have worked my way west to here. This is heaven. Not a cheap trip though..roughly $3000 for the week. Of course thats including everything even airfare from Chicago to Yellowknife. What a trip. I making it again in September for the big fatties. Still interested? Email me at [email protected], I'll do whatever I can to help.
