Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I have heard that the water level is the lowest in many years.
It will be a slow going white knuckle week in July for me!
It sure is a bad feeling when the motor goes thump.
Anyone venturing on LOTW had best be extra very very carefull!
It will be neat to see some of the structure we have been fishing though. |

low water, does that mean the fish hang deeper, like in the chanlles? I think i remember Tony Grant saying something about that when the Cave goes down dramatically. |

| Hiya,
Yeah, water is very very low. Several people I know of have hit rocks and taken lower units off this year. Really a case where a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. If you've been up there a few times (especially in the last couple years when the water's been high) and have routes you regularly use, take out the map and look over them again. There may be things you could very safely roar over in the past that will stop you in your tracks this year. I know I found some things this past weekend that made me shiver when I realized what I'd been driving over.
LoTWs is dangerous if you aren't careful regardless of what the water levels are, so I don't mean to be Chicken Little here, but a little extra caution will pay this year.

Location: Sioux Narrows | Water is really low, you have to worry about 5ft-7ft reefs. Makes for different fishing some spots don't exsist any more they are land.Water temps are high already 70's and weed growth is slow but should be going soon.Good luck.

Location: Hayward, WI | Just got back from LOTW today. Water appears to me to be about 3 feet down or so compared to the water level last fall. We did get plenty of rain while we were up there. We had to contend with a cold front that came through at the beginning of the trip with a 20 degree temp drop on our first day out. We saw all extremes of weather after that. Water temps varied from 66-71. Weeds were up. Here's the list ...
Ski's: 45, 42, 40, 40, 36, 34, 34, 32, 30
Slimers: 38, 34, 34, 30, 30, 30
Never really got any sort of pattern going. The 3 biggest fish were caught on topwater. The rest were on topwater and jerks. For the most part the fish were fairly tight to structure. Got some great film of most of the fish including an awesome jackpot strike that resulted in Scott's 40. Too bad we can't post video but I'll put up the pics of Scott's fish and Dusty's 45.
I'll be back up there in 2 weeks ...

Location: Aitkin, Blaine, Minnesota | Just got back from the NW Angle. Boated 6 fish w/two boats. Move alot of fish. 4 mid 30's, 42", and a 47.5 ". All on smaller bucktails ripped through the shallow weeds. No takers on bigger baits.
