| I fish West Battle Lake in W. Central MN and a few weeks ago while walleye fishing I found a sick Muskie. This fish actually died and sank to the bottom of the lake after I snapped 2 quick pictures of it in the water. I never got the opportunity to take a closer look and I never touched the fish. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing it was in the upper 40's in size.
I now have pics of the fish and it was filled with tumors and such, but no apparent open wounds. Just curious if anyone has seen this....
Can anyone post pictures on here for others to view?

Location: Des Plaines, IL | I have seen this type of "sickness". I was fishing in Cass Lake last fall and was on a dandy little lake and caught a Pike (42") that had the same type of tumors on the top of it's head. I'm STILL waiting for my partner to give me a copies of the pic's we took(of the fish that is...).
That was the only time I encountered anything like that. If Eric ever gives me the set of pic's I will post them as well.
Tight Lines,
Karen

Location: Northern Illinois | We were fishing Bone Lake one time and a fish kept splashing in an area. It was around 1 p.m. or so and we drove up to it and sure enough it was a musky. It had to be 40" if I had to guess. It had tumor like scars all over its body and it looked like it was going through a lot of pain. It was around 90 degrees out. I was wondering if the fish was just caught and couldn't handle the heat and was out of the water too long. Kinda stinks knowing that fish will never spawn again! But that is the life cycle. |
