Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | If you have a kid or want to help a kid learn more about fishing stop by Smokey's Muskie Shop on Saturday. My self and a few other guides are holding a small 8am till noon fishing contest for small kids.
This is not anything big but something the kids can do to get the feel of a compitition. We will fish for everything and prizes will be handed out to the kids. Stop by and help out or bring a kid to join in on the fun.
We will be at Smokey's around 7am to get things started. If you have something to bring we would be glad to add it to our prizes. Remember our kids are the future.

| Mike,
Are there certain ages you are targeting for this? What time should they be there and should they be bringing their own poles? Will they be fishing in boats or off shore?

This was something set up by Dan Peckels and Smokey's for kids. I am not sure about the format. I know that its for smaller kids 14 and under I think. I was told to be there around 7am to get things ready. We are going to get every kid on the water in boats. I will have my boat and gear ready take all the kids I can. I will make shifts if we have lots of kids. Everyone will get a shot at catching fish. The more boats the better. Weather permitting we will have a good turn out. I will bring 10 or more rods to use. I'm not sure about the number of kids. This was word of mouth type of thing until I posted it and got some e-mails about it.
Dan and I just thought it would be nice to get kids into the compitition side of fishing even if its only for a few hours. They get to ride is some nice rigs and will get the feeling of compitition. This is just for fun and strictly for the enjoyment of the younger generation. I will have one or both of my kid on hand to help out and fish. They are 11 and 14 years old.
All kids welcome and anyone who can help out please feel free to stop by Saturday morning around 7am so we can plan out morning. We are fishing rain or shine. 8am till noon, at least that was the plan.

| Dan and Mike,
Thanks for the invite to this outing! I brought my daughter Lauren with, and also fished with David. We had a great time! David placed 3rd with a 14 1/4" LM Bass! We caught a bunch of 9" Crappies, and some good sized gills. One of the highlights was when David was reeling in about a 13-14" walleye. He got it about 10' from the boat, and a mid to high 30" muskie slowly swam up to it, and closed it's mouth around it. Snapped the line, and both kids were amazed to see this! Back to Smokey's for hotdogs, burgers, Salad, desert, softdrinks, and the awards ceramony made for a great morning on the water.
Lauren and I went back out for several hours afterward. I, casting for Muskies, and she, dragging a slipbobber rig behind for whatever. More crappies, gills, perch, and a 16 1/2" LM Bass! No muskies for me!

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | This outing was great for the kids. Everyone got fish and some prize, I think all the kids got at least two to three prizes before it was over. Great day for the kids. One boy caught his first legal muskie on his first cast for muskies. Do you think he likes to fish for muskies now. Great job to Eric from Smokey's for putting that boy on a fish. All went well, next year we will do it again. This time we will get the word out sooner and have a sign up list so we have the numbers we have to work with.
Thanks to everyone who helped !!! The kids will be talking about this for a while. Lots of dads are going to have kids nagging them to go fishing again. I hope they can find some time for their kids, I know they will want to get back out. Sorry to all who tryed to get in last minuit, I know their was a few. Next year it will be planned and organized to better suit everyone involved. Kids on the water= fun-fun-fun!!!
